Charlie,

we are currently scanning our complete paperbase older than 2 years. The current page count on the scanner is 87000, we did that with one scanner in 5 month.

The scanner is a fujitsu M3091DC (http://www.fujitsu-europe.com/home/sProduct.asp?osc=fdg&lang=de&cat=9&crrnt=yes), costs one grand, holds 50 pages and scans 4 pages per minutes. Our average is 10 big Files a days, that is roundabout 3 feet of paper. The scanner gets 50 pages and is busy for 12 minutes. Then he needs more 'food'.

The software is an extreme easy VFP program that asks for a file name/description and scans the complete 50 pages with that reference. It uses the Wang control that creates a multi-page TIFF file. We did not tweak any TWAIN settings, but there should be much room for improvements.

If people need to look up old pages, they have to open the according TIFF file and find that page.

The most important part is the Fujitsu scanner. Check them out, it is definitely worth while.

>A requirement may be coming up to cross reference documents to a Fox database. The problem is, these documents are in hardcopy form. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get them into some format that is readable by a computer? They don't have to be editable. Maybe scan them as bitmaps? What is the most efficient way to handle this? There are thousands of these things!
