To add to what Craig said, I have SP3 on an original 95 machine with no problems, so it certainly *can* be done. That's a very big download, (assuming you got it that way), it's more probable to have a corruption problem with something of that size and download duration (unfortunately).
Also, you might try renaming the old vfp6.exe to vfp6.old (etc.), just to see what appears when you run the SP3 setup - I'd be curious about that. Before doing another DL.
