As to VFP database security, the only way you are going to restrict access is through an ODBC id and password. I know that's not very good security, but there is no native security.
As to the deleted record issue, there are a lot of things to try. But first, how is the VFP component passing data to the VFP component? If it's just passing data that it grabs internally, SET DELETED ON should work to "hide" the deleted records in process before data is passed.
