Jim,

Nadya has already given you my standard advice. I've had so much grief from trying to run reports off related tables.

What you're missing is SET SKIP TO ChildTable.

But really, take Nadya's good advice. She didn't detail the fact that I never refer to data in the report as MyTable.MyField, but simply MyField. Then just make sure the report cursor is the currently select work area.
