Actually, VFP doesn't get the blame here - Windows itself does the dirty work of "guess what's close to the missing font?" based on the current entries in the machine's Windows font table - if you ask for a font and miss, Windows will try to match the characteristics of the requested font using a LOGFONT structure, and the bad news is each machine has it's own table, so the miss on one machine can result in a different result on each system (or on the same system if another font gets added...)
It can really drive you nuts if you don't install the same fonts for all users on the same NT or Win2K system (can you say
