Thanks for the info. I am using this and also _bstr_t object and macros to accomplish this. I got some good guidance on this from some other VC++ forums.

>Use the SysAllocString() function, this takes an ANSI/Unicode string and returns a BSTR. If you want to go the other way take a look at the standard Unicode-to-Ansi macros.
