A few years back in a different job, we were expecting a 3 hour power outage but we had a 6 hour UPS supporting 2 servers and about 12 critical PC's running 24/7. The power outage happenned on time and after about 15 mins of boredom in semi-darkness I decided to make a cup of tea. Guess what? No power. Oh wait, why not plug the kettle into the UPS? 10 seconds later a 6 hour UPS for an entire room of equipment was completely drained. No equipment, no tea!
