Unless it is very easy input (meaning not much validation), I never allow user to input data directly in a grid control. I use the grid to display data and present textboxes, listboxes, comboboxes, datetime picker, ... to allow user to modify data. Once the user press OK, I insert/update data in the table and refresh the grid.
