Doug,

>Roi inspired me to start this new thread as a result of thinking his sound had gone bad when all he had done was turn the sound knob down...

Reminds me of the service call I made across town to see what was wrong with a client's Novell server, which had completely stopped working. We discovered that the cleaning lady had unplugged it to plug in her vaccuum cleaner!

>Many moons ago, when I was fairly new to computers but familisr enough to be dangerous...

Ditto...

I'll never forget the night that I finally got my first major BASIC program running bug-free on the Radio Shack Model 2. I had spent about 6 hours changing lines, running, debugging, changing more, getting more great ideas, changing entire sections, etc, etc....

At about 3am, it ran perfectly. I smiled with great satisfaction, and flipped off the switch as I got up to go to bed. Then I stopped in my tracks, and my blood ran cold, as I thought, "Did I save that?"..... You can guess the answer.
