>Three of us are developing a vfp database using visual source safe. The chappy who usually knows what to do went on holiday leaving me with a couple of incy changes to make and then a big test plan. The problem is that when I rebuilt the database and tried to run it, it didn't work. It is saying that the fields in a table called compass.dbf don't match the entires in the database.

As for fixing the problem, the others have you on the right track, but you should be sure you know why you have this problem in the first place. The DBC stores specific structure and extended information about each table it contains, much of which is duplicated in the table itself. This means that specific versions of your database and its table are tied together, and you can't just replace a table with a previous version from backup if the structure has changed, because its structure will no longer match the structure in the database.

I get this all the time during database structure changes, when a local sysadmin (who knows just enough to be dangerous) copies a dbf, cdx, and fpt from backup over the working files, and the structure has changed since the backup was made. HTH
