WAG, but did the powers that be also take away the ability to search a directory. In NW 3.X I believe the attribute was S or F (file scan). The might stop the ODBC connection from working.

Now we are getting to my limits on Novell. I haven't worked with it years (since 4.0 was new).

>Hmmm ... well, if that's the case, is it only true in a Novell situation or in an ODBC sitation? Because I tried it on my Win98 network and had no problem at all accessing the database directly thru Foxpro across the network with read-only access. I haven't used ODBC in awhile and don't have it set up on my computer.
