I am not sure how this could work, as SDT does require the DBC as part of it's compete Metadata set. For example, the Update method first gets from the DBC all the fields for a given table and all the native properties for each field and then attempts to find the extended properties from the metadata. The metadata does not duplicate the properties that are currently stored in the DBC. Basically for every record in the metadata tables there must be a matching object in the DBC or the Update() will give an error.
