>If you want to save yourself the call to M$, then you might want to look in the registry (on your previous drive). Under the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT look for things like MSACAL.MSACALCtrl.1 (Calendar Control). Under the CLSID entry, the license should be found. I don't know how to edit a registry other than the default. Perhaps one of these folks here does. However, I think that if you can do that, you can solve your problem without paying M$.

If you have access to a computer which has the OCX working, as you do, you can copy just that registry entry. Start REGEDIT, and look in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT area, subkey Licenses. Try to find the key starting DB4C0D00..... which handles the VFP (or at least seems to). Highlight the key, and go to Registry/Export Registry Files. Export JUST this item, then follow the directions in reverse to import on the new computer.

For safety sake, do a complete export of the registry on your new computer before you try this, so you can reverse if you have a problem.

This is both cheaper and less frustrating than trying to get the key out of MS, who will tell you that "All you need to do is re-install VFP". Bleeah...

I tried the registry copy after re-installing VFP 5 times (and spent about 5 hours), and it worked. Thank goodness I'd set everything up on my LapTop before I started working on the DeskTop!

HTH - in time for you to go to your local fireworks.
