That is strange. It really sounds like you've got multiple controls in the columns, and the code is in the wrong set, but you have checked that, I take it.

Try a fresh new vfp base grid, use a table as a source on a new base scx form, with no other code, and I guarantee you will see the Valid fire. Add your changes from there to see where the problem hits...
