Craig,

>Thanks, I just wanted to confirm that they were as useless as I had feared!

As MikeS pointed out, ActiveDocs can be used if you build the app to have some way of getting to the data, such as ADO, XML, or data objects served up from a remote server (basic distributed app design) -- as long as the only clients needing to run the app have the VFP runtimes installed, perhaps in an intranet situation.

Rick Strahl has used them for running maintenance forms in the browser, that are built from the same form also used as a desktop app, but with remote data access designed into the architecture.

You could also use them in a browser-based application to get around some of IE's security issues, like always prompting for user confirmation on a print job, or a need for exact-position printing from a web app.

So, maybe they're not exactly useless, but the only advantage I can see is keeping the user in the browser. There are NO data access advantages over what you can do with a desktop app.

>I will go back to learning the west-wind group of tools and foxisapi, unless you have anything else I should consider?

The Wind from the West is very good!
