I've never had a bios virus scanner on any PC I've run. It would certainly be a pain to turn that off everytime you want to run Linux. At work I installed RedHat on a second drive on my workstation and chose to use a boot disk as well, to avoid the LILO dual boot. My diskette boot fired the kernel directly without using LILO. You can also fire Linux from within WinXX by using 'loadlin'. The howto sources I gave previously contains a loadlin howto.

My feeling is that any distro would set off your bios virus warning, but, the other 'Jerry' is a RHCE. His reply should be on line soon...
