I will try switching to KDE.

>Gnome is nice. It is the favorite of the 'no commerical or propriatary software allowed' crowd. It is still incomplete and somewhat unstable, so don't be suprized if you suddenly find yourself at the command prompt after a segfault. It is a faster desktop than KDE, but KDE and software developed with the QT widget set approaches the kind of interconnectivity that windows has between its software. It certianly is nice to have a choice, though. In fact, if just firing programs from a desktop is all that one needs then fwm95 or the TclDesktop is all one needs. So many choices, so much fun!

>I've decided to go with KDE. The major reasons, besides the rock solid stability, are that the KDE.org is also developing KOffice, a GPL suite which they describe on their web site, and KDevelop, an awesome C++ GUI RAD development tool!. My pet project is to get an xbase widget set built that will add dataware controls that can be dragged and dropped onto a form. The way development is going I imagine that someone will beat me to it. The number of types of software, tools, etc., are literally exploding onto the Linux scene!
