Bruce,
Be sure you don't have the original form set to Modal. That will keep it on top of any other windows. But Grids are a better way to go as you have a great deal more control. You can pop a grid up in a container right on the original form. When the user chooses a record (or clicks off the container) then make the container Visible=.F. and the user is right back to the original form.
