Thanks, Larry and Mike for the suggestions. After trying Mike's suggestion (which didn't work for my case), I noticed the key to my problem. I had used the line THISFORM.LOCKSCREEN = .T. prior to calling the first form beyond the main form. My purpose was to prevent funny screen effects on the main form while working with the sub-forms. After I commented out this code, the 'ghost' images disappeared.
