You can use hidden directories in NT, so unless you know the exact name you will be unable to browse it. You can also modify the permissions when sharing a directory.

Right click your folder called Data, select 'Sharing' and change the share name to 'Data$'. The $ denotes that the directory is to be kept hidden. When ever you wish to use this directory, you have to use the $ in the name. For example, if your server was called 'SERVER1', and your share was called 'DATA$', you would open a table using the following command:

use \\server1\data$\mytable in 0

If you do a network browse, you will be unable to see the 'Data' directory, but it is there........
