Thanks for your reply. I have checked each of you suggestions, and everything seems OK, but I still cannot delete the file. Does it matter that the file is located in my c:\inetpub\ftproot\backup folder which is in my web space?
By the way, numerous other, very similar, files in this same folder are created, then later deleted every day without difficulty. Something has happened to this one particular file (customer.dbf) to prevent its being deleted. Someone else (on another forum) suggested I re-boot, which I have done, and no help.
