I knew there was a reason for stslling actual builing to the last miniute:-). I had tried to change a field size a long time ago, and it had failed due to data in the table. From then on I made certain the fields were the right size. I also had to change a numeric text to integer(movinf VFP to Oracle) and found the same problem
