Use the KILL utility from the resource kit. It'll kill any process including services...

Part of the reason that you can't kill it is because you didn't configure it with DCOMCNFG and it runs in the SYSTEM context which you don't have access to as a user.

>I'm developing on a internet application which is running under Windows 2000. During debugging I need sometimes to kill my hanging application. This worked fine under Windows NT but under W2k I get just the message "access denied". How can I kill my hanging task without rebooting the whole server?

>By the way, in W2k it was suffisant just to register the application. No DCOMCNFG works where necessary to run the task. But I saw that the task's identity is now IUSR_... Under NT I gave the task to the Administrator. Trying to do this under W2k did not work anymore.
