The problem with allowing images is that if you use an image to support an idea temporarily, and remove it latter, or the server simply is removed, the message that is stored in the archives is of less value.

However, since a signiture is not stored with a message, we should be able to images to our sigs, right? (And we did, just some basic HTML :-) But its not very important to have, IMO.
