I had .AutoCenter = .T. which was the problem. Neither the help nor the Hacker's Guide mentions that if .AutoCenter = .T., you can change the value of .Top in design time but your new value will be discarded and reset to 0 when you close the form. I suppose that .Left works the same way but I haven't tried it yet.
