I have used the commands a lot and they never give me a problem. I always use the MEMO option.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you "speak with Microsoft", you are actually speaking with a support person who probably doesn't program in FoxPro as much as you and possibly doesn't know why he/she is giving out the advice that is being offered...hence the "but didn't really have a reason why".
