Hi Norman,

I have not really used ASP and have never used Web Connection, my strengths are FoxPro. I guess the easiest way to look at AFP is that it is a slight variation on VFP. You have available the full power of VFP (even SQL backend if needed) except for forms in which case you use HTML instead of VFP forms.

I am told by the developer of the product in Germany that 10,000 users (not hits) a day should be OK. But then I guess we can also start looking at clustering.

HTML forms are used in much the same way as the older style of forms in Fox2.6 with memvars. Think of each form item as being a memvar field, with all memvars available to AFP to manipulate in whatever way is required.

Having not used the other products I can't really comment on strengths or weaknesses except to say that you have the full power of VFP which I believe is far greater than ASP or even JSP.

I developed my first full e-commerce site from scratch in 8 weeks without ever seeing the product (AFP) previously, so I am pretty impressed with it.

I downloaded the demo product, set up an NT server with IIs at the office and started playing. I was surprised at how easy it was to develop a powerful site.

Regards
Doug Johnston

>Doug, I've been trying to learn more about AFP but was having trouble finding details on their web site. For example, does AFP have it's own ISAPI interface, script engine, and object model for http contents (like ASP)? How well does it handle heavy traffic? How does one get data from the browser (such as form data) back into AFP?

>>For what its worth I've been using a product called AFP. Put you VFP code in with your HTML (much like ASP). Very easy to get working and very powerful. Have a look at www.afpweb.com.

>>>I will like to have a webpage that let me make a query over a vfp table and show it on a webpage. There is some information about stock availability that need to be accessed from aprox. 20 stores all over the country but is kind of difficult and expensive to have everyone online connected via an intranet but it will be easy just to connect to the www and look for the info they want and then disconnect.
>>>
>>>thanks in advance
