Hi again Mark,

I do agree with what Michael said..

If Novell is good enough and doing the job .. that is it .. no need to do all these changes .

In my case I had 3 Novell servers Ver 3.x & 4.x running very well ... but we had to change to NT, know why because we forced to. Our database engine was Informix (Novell Ver.) and that version has alot of bugs even Informix themself they stop all the releases for Novell OS but Informix works excelent under Unix and VeryGood under NT. that is why we shifted to NT.

Another poit.. as I personaly workd on poth systems....
- NT is easy to Administer Novell is not needs a Qualified person
- NT is user Friendly Novell is not (at least until the version I work with)
- (But the bigest issue .. is the Security), in my personal opinion Novell is the BEST BEST BEST for the levels of security aginst the uses use.

Finaly..
Maybe the world has changed now with New Novell & net NT Versions ... how knows untill you stuck and try it.... !!!!!

Regards

>Thanks. I have been to MS and Novell's sites. The thing that really sticks out in my mind is that MS has a lot of info as to why you should go with NT/2000, but Novell really doesn't have much in terms of why Netware is the better choice. The client that is looking at this is currently running Netware 4.11 with about 40 users. Their MIS/IT staff consists of one person. While the company I work at moved from Netware to NT almost 2 years ago, but we went from Netware 3.1 to NT 4 and there were only 8 users.

>My feeling is that same as what you said, that they should stick with what they have and if they really feel the need to upgrade then stick with Novell.

>>I could send you to Microsofts site, to check out the advantages of WIN NT versus Novell. A lot depends on how many users you are talking about? Do you have an MIS person or team? Do you want to spend a lot of money in changing?
>>Both networks have advantages and disadvantages. A lot of Microsofts server products will only work well with Microsoft Server. If you are not changing software other than the networking software, I would say stay and avoid alot of headaches in changing over and learning a new network system.
>>Hope this helps.
