take a close look on the www.pdfstore.com. They have a utility there BCL Drake 4.0 that runs as a plug-in in Adobe Acrobat 4 (not the reader). It can convert a pdf file back to RTF. It even works with pictures inside a PDF-file. Because its a demo it will only convert the odd pages of the PDF-file.

If you want to make sure that no tampering is possible with you PDF-file you should allways use the Distiller to create the file. You can set several types of security and even a tool like Drake will comply to this.
