Hi Jeff,

>What are the issues with ODBC?

- The ODBC approach is far slower than the FOX2X approach.
- It is not uncommon to have problems in installing and maintaining the VFP ODBC driver on the client side.
- With ODBC you must define your result with SQL statements, which can be slow and troublesome. When defining a FOX2X table it does not matter how you constructed this table, just as long it is there.

>Is the ActiveX control the way to go when building it into a framework?

No, The normal activeX control has limitations compared to the two automation servers. The best way to include it into your framework is either to use the CRPE autmation server or the RDC automation server. However development on the CRPE as is being discontinued, so the best bet is to go with the RDC automation server (they are very simular).

If you search here on the UT for crystal and RDC you'll find lot's of messages which adresses a lot of questions regarding the intergration of this into your framework.

Also, there is a lot of valuable information in your Develop.hlp help file that comes with CR.

Be sure to work with either version 7 or 8.

>I'm making the move to Crystal Reports and know you have alot of experience with it.

Good luck,

Walter,
