Yes; especially the case where the font is printer-resident or the resolution of the printers are not the same.

That would ensure that the same font source was used and the same font resolution was used as long as all the machines used the same version of the printer driver.

Think about this - a difference in resolutions of printers will affect how a graphical font is rendered.
