In Tools | Accounts | Properties I have:
Servers tab: Server is: POP3, Incoming Mail: MyServer.duke.edu, Outgoing: SMTP.duke.edu, Account name: MyName, Password: MyPassword, Remember password is checked.

In actuality I meant that I did not have to put the password in every time. Also, I think you have to be set up with remote access permissions by the administrator.
