Menus and Toolbars do not get focus, so focus is not moved from the textbox and so the Valid/Lostfocus events are not fired. Several workarounds are generally used. One is to programmatically move focus so the events fire. I believe there is a function in either the FAQ here or files section that will do the necesary work to insure the data is updated. Someone else may know the specific function. I generally put a "Save" button on the form, not in menus or toolbars so this is not a problem.
