The cursor's dbf("cursor") gave c:\scratch\78943222.tmp or something like that. So I suspended the routine, and tried indexing from the command window. Nope. So I tried to look for the file on the disk, and found out that I forgot to create the \scratch directory :). The file didn't exist at all. Probably it was one of those "memory only" cursors with just a pro forma filename (though I doubt it... the app where it happened wrote the customer code into two fields, and later had some rather tricky Selects) or... I'm still confused, and couldn't reproduce the error. How the hell could Fox have made a file in an non-existent directory?
