I'm sure you've thought of this and it may be too much overhead but anyway.... can you create a second cursor ordered by the field you wish to seek include the recno() in your select.... select the second cursor... do your seek.. if it is .t. grab recno()... select first cursor... goto recno().

A grand gludge! But I think it would work.
