In fact, I believe chapter 16 of the Programmer's Guide, to which I referred Bruce, illustrated how a DCOM DLL server runs in the process space of a proxy stub. I'll have to investigate tomorrow.

Compile a server as a dll and try to find it in DCOMCNFG...

As far as "Remoting" using the dllhost dllsurrogate method, I don't think that this works except for with free-threaded servers, and additionally is only supposed to be used on servers that were designed specifically for it.
