For one thing, the file could, within reason, be there, but not properly installed. Without the registry keys, it won't work. BTW, checking for one of the objects (Scripting.FileSystemObject) may not tell you the version. I have WSH 2.0 installed and the version showing in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software...key is 1.0. That's why I'd recommend simply checking for the VBScript.RegExp key. That object wasn't available prior to 2.0, and if that key isn't present, you'd want to install the latest version anyway.
