Yup, the conceptualization is fine. I was trying to emphasize that the data is not necessarily in XML or any other format.

And it's not even that much of an analogy. The SOAP toolkit lets you turn your VFP COM servers (or any other COM server) into a Web Service with little effort, using the Wizard.
