I'm using it as a platform and operating system neutral medium for communicating between applications. Specifically, I'm using it with BizTalk Server and XMLConnect for B2B communications. With regards to VFP, I am developing an application to convert XML schemas to VFP classes, use the classes to gather user-provided data, and output a valid XML document in an appropriate envelope.

It is better right now because it is the latest "dominate" technology. Who knows what will be there tomorrow. ADO is neither platform nor OS neutral.
