Re: Integrating SDT and VFE: SHARING DBCX2 METADATA
Versions: VFP (6.0 sp4) VFE (6 sp2) SDT (5.1)

Greetings,

Mayhap someone here might be able to assist me with having SDT recognize VFE DBCX2 Metadata.

Have recently purchased Stonefield database toolkit and am in the process of integrating it with Visual Foxexpress. Installed/followed the instructions as per Stonefield’s sfveint and Wiki’s how-to. VFE’s dbcx2 browser appears aware of Stonefield’s extensions. Stonefield’s DBCX2 browser does not recognize and/or display the VFE metadata for the tables/views and fields.

The first question I would ask is if SDT is capable of displaying
the VFE metadata and the follow-up question would be what explicit steps should I be taking to enable that.

It is still unclear to me whether or not VFE and SDT share the same meta files or if each is designed to keep their extensions and values separately in different tables. Which metafiles should sdt point to for the vfe proj's metadata? Is there a flag or switch
or some other step needed for sdt to display the vfe metadata?

It might be worth noting that my immediate requirement is to copy the underlying metadata (associated comments, flags and classes) from the db’s tables to corresponding views and avoid having to manually enter this information in both places each time. I did try using eview2 to accomplish this but was unsuccessful.

Any insight into other means of updating view meta-properties in the interim would be most appreciated. Unfortunately I am quite novice with VFP and a bit of time away from writing a util to accomplish this on my own.
