Default values will not work. In this example, I want to copy a row from one table to another table with an almost duplicate structure. There are no standard, default values. I want to copy the data into the other table and make a few changes to a few fields.

I am talking about working in the command box...IMHO, the quick and dirty approach is the way to go...get things done and move on to the next task. I don't think a quick scatter and gather is going to cause any problems.
