thanks for your reply.
i'm working on a windows 98 style buttons which has 3 different states of images.
the first image file will be the normal state,
the second image file will be the roll over state,
and the third image file will be the disable state.

whenever the mouse move into the button,
i've to change to the second image.
and whenever the mouse move out of the button,
i've to change back to the first image.

during the changing of the image,
the hour glass appear which is quite disturbing.
specially for slower machine.

so this is why i'm asking whether there is a way to disable the hour glass.
if the process has to disturb the registry, then i think have to forget about the idea.
