After the Life Stages mess, some of these ideas kicked around.

You can force windows to show the .SHS extension by deleting the registry setting: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShellScrap\NeverShowExt and HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\DocShortcut to make .SHS and .SHB extensions visible.


You can also delete "ShScrap.DLL" from the Windows system folder to disable scrap files entirely.
