Have you ever need one fancy and useful OCX wich had to do something good in your best aplication? Something like a combo with treeview in list, or, maybe, a blazingly fast connection to a remote database, or, maybe, an OCX for decompressing .mp3s, or.... (I can continue, and I'm sure I'll find another 1000 examples). You'll find a lot of them, freeware, Delphi-based, but "If it works in VFP, fine, if not, get lost!"

More than that: Is there an Linux based SQL server: MYSQL. It works great, and, best of all, is free. If you create an remote view from Delphi, it's ok, but, if you want to create the same remote connection from VFP, you'll notice that ALL FIELDS from remote view have width 1 (yes, one). And all you have to do is to set again properties for all of them. (From VB or C++ works fine, so, IMO, it's VFP ODBC's fault).

Suppose you create an shareware application, and distribute it by the Internet. For a 500 kb application, user MUST download at least 4.5 Mb Runtime Libraries. Where is the fun?

IMO, Microsoft don't make enough efforts to make VFP an great language. :-(
