Um.. Even daily backup still can't retrieve back the live change today!!
Unless you install Norton Utility and take its UnErase function

Anyway, you will feel happy other than cry in case you got back over 80% of your work done back after the virus destructive action!

The most key thing to do is backup!! Even there is no virus attack your work, you should do it..
If your harddisk fail, you got lose on your work done.. even the My Document data..

In general, Backup must be a key topic in any formal computer/programming course!
If you don't learn it at all, read the following and make sure you can "Teach" all your staff to get the same concept on it!

At here, I'd would express the important point on Backup Process,
DO:

1) Backup place must be different from Working Place!!
2) Make a Stable, non-stopped, periodical backup, otherwise useless!!
3) Take Care the raise up Security problem after Backup is done!!
4) Try to make a backup out of the office, such as Boss Home!!

1) If your working folder is in Server, e.g. G:\myProj then, your backup Must be in local Harddisk, C: or D:
Why? if server is down, you can keep on working after restore back the data!!
Otherwise, you lose everything, just equal you don't have backup at all!
Similiarly, if your working folder in local Harddisk, then backup to Network Drive,
if your harddisk is fail or whatever failure in boot, you can retrieve data to another PC and go on work...

Of cos, if your working data in put different platform, you need to find a way to backup in different place!!

2) You can setup a scheduler to do it, if you don't do it periodical, the lose of data will increase and you
will afraid to retrieve the data back..

3) This point always forgot because ppl thinking is straight on protect data not lose but forgot the data will
get chance to copy to other ppl who should NOT know it!
Network Access right handling is a way, or you can keep the Zip Drive/Tape backup to a good security place
to prevent other to steal it!

4) Lastly, if there is a fire on office, you still lose both working data, and also backup...
Make a monthly Backup by a Removable drive such as CDRW, Zip Drive or Tape...
and the backup will put at Boss's home!
If there is a fire or disaster, you still get back all data and work continuously!
This backup don't need to make too short of time....
In case there is a disaster, losing 1 month work done is still acceptable to any boss unless you work in Bank!!! LOL



p.s. I hope you and also your boss, staff would get this correct concept on backup and your company will be saved!!
