Well, with Delphi you can 'attach' one of a couple-three data engines into your projects. Interbase, dBASE, etc, or none, depending on your needs. The engine is essentially just another component, like a checkbox on a form. You add it if you need it.

I like the concept.

I'd agree that Linux servers will be the strength of Linux and that this is a definite threat to MS's hegemony. What are the recent number ? Something like 40% of new servers are Linux; particularly mail and firewall types.

Still, with the recent announcement (yesterday?) that the Star software's source would be released I can only think that that software will benefit as Linux did. And since it's free and, for the most part, can read MS formats... Well, once Linux's graphics capabilities match that of Windows I'd think MS is going to get some real competition.
