David -

This printer doesn't have much in the way of hardware or software controls. Labels printed to plain paper print with exactly the same line spacing as the labels. Line spacing looks OK on Word docs, but I'm not sure you'd notice on a letter. I'll bet this printer wouldn't work with 1099's. My own best guess is that this is a hardware issue and there is a problem with the way paper is pulled through.

The client is planning to switch printers - which suits me - and I am scheduled to be on site tomorrow to check out the other printer before they move it. I'm pretty sure I've checked all possible settings, but will look again.

Thanks for the idea.

>Seems like I remember a problem once a years ago with an earlier HP printer, involving that kind of scenario, where someone had put in 66 lines into a setting that was meant for the number of lines in the printable area. The net effect was to slim down the line spacing just a hair.

>Just a wild hunch, and probably not on target, but if I were there, I'd check it to be sure, by comparing to other output on the same printer, and also checking the setup on the printer's front panel.
