Wes;

I also do Web Development, Access and Visual Basic programming. Visual FoxPro is my favorite and being a data centric language, lends itself to handling data. Yes, the learning curve is there for Visual FoxPro, but so are the rewards. VFP is fun and the other languages are there for use when required. Given a choice I will only use VFP. When the boss or client says no VFP, that is not my decision.

However, I suggest you look into one or more of the excellent application foundations available for Visual FoxPro. This will allow you to have a robust professional application in less time then it would take you to create your own foundation. Study OOP and VFP, plus whatever foundation you use and you will be light years ahead of the game. The various VFP application foundations support users with on line forums.

If you would like some comments regarding such products please ask and I am sure you will get great answers. As for myself, I use Codebook, MEI, Visual FoxExpress and Visual MaxFrame Professional. Trying to write your own foundation will take valuable time away from your intended purpose - application development. Let those dedicated to application foundation development do their job and their user base will be able to assist you. If you write your own foundation you are on your own.

Without years of programming experience with Client/Server, OOP, VFP, etc., it will take many attempts to approach a good foundation. Imagine competing with a bunch of experts in foundation development, while you are trying to develop and deliver an application to a client so you can pay your bills.

Be careful to not use the VFP wizard as it will get you into trouble if you want to modify code it generates.
