Are you connecting to Oracle as a different user? If so, did the developer create Public Synonyms on all the Oracle tables? Also, do other users have proper Oracle privileges in all the tables?
I create different Roles [ReadOnly, Edit, etc]in Oracle and grant privileges to each role. The read-only roles only get the SELECT privilege. The edit roles get INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE privileges. Then I grant a role to each user.
If a user leaves, all the DBA has to do is drop the user. When that happens, the user is automatically removed [revoked] from any roles. Very low maintenance way to handle users.
