Your best bet is through the driver identification; there's nothing preventing a laser from having continuous feed paper, or lasers of operating by default with particular resolutions, or even emulating a DMP...so you really never know. I've frequently used lasers in emulation where older DOS systems that never had laser support required a new printer; the panasonic lasers emulate the IBM ProPrinter, and honerstly, Windows never knows the difference - any more than if you send the output to a file...
